Making Sense of Trauma

Product image

Trauma is pervasive and impacts all of us, children and adults. Becoming trauma-informed helps us when working with children to shift from saying “what is wrong with you” to “what has happened to you”. The webinar will help you to understand the patterns of children’s behaviour and to learn some practical tools to begin helping children to manage those behaviours.

Your course will only become available during the timeframe of your chosen session (e.g. February will become available Feb 1st; you will not be able to access a February session in January). This course is offered monthly, on a recurring basis. Check back frequently if your preferred dates (i.e. month) are not yet available.

Note: If you are facilitating this webinar with a group, you will have access to the course for the month in which you register. If you require longer than the month to complete the webinar, please contact us at courses@newdirections.mb.ca.

Upon completion of this course, you will:

1) Develop an understanding of the impact of trauma on children/youth

2) Learn the principles of trauma-informed care

3) Explore the current understanding of the nervous system and trauma survival responses

4) Identify specific tools that assist with freeze/flight/fight survial responses in children and youth
